For many of us, this notion of having self-compassion has been understated at best or more likely seen as self-centeredness, narcissism or being too ego-centric. Yet brain research has found that genuine self-compassion when practiced has the power to literally re-wire our brain toward calmness, openness and learning. For me personally, learning how to be self-compassionate has transformed both my mood and the quality of my most important relationships.
